Bay Area Regional Energy Network

Santa Clara County Office of Sustainability is a member of the Bay Area Regional Energy Network.

BayREN is a collaboration of the 9 counties that make up the San Francisco Bay Area. Led by the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), BayREN implements effective energy saving programs on a regional level and draws on the expertise, experience, and proven track record of Bay Area local governments to develop and administer successful climate, resource, and sustainability programs.

Single Family — Single Family homeowners can save energy, increase the comfort and safety of the home and save money with Home Upgrade. A Home Upgrade Advisor can help homeowners receive rebates up to $5,500 for installing energy efficient upgrades in the home. Heating, air conditioning, insulation, water, and other systems can all help strengthen your home’s efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and reduce energy costs.

Multifamily — Multifamily properties can access cash rebates and free energy consulting for undertaking energy upgrades. The program assists in planning energy saving improvements designed to save about 10% of a building’s energy usage and provides $750 per unit in rebates to help pay for the upgrade.

Codes & Standards — The Codes & Standards program aims to improve the performance of buildings through increased compliance with Energy Codes, advocacy and support for adoption of green building codes, and by providing trainings to local governments and building industry professionals on standards and best practices.

Financing — Incentives are available that support Multifamily building improvements.  Commercial property owners have an option to repay building upgrades through property taxes.
